Maths Learning in Room 8

Here are some games and activities we use in Room 8 to improve our maths.

One of our favourite games is Greedy.  If you have a die (dice) at home you could do this with a friend or family member.  See who is the most cautious and who is the greediest!!

Puzzles are a fantastic way to improve our maths.  This puzzle is not easily solved but a lot of fun to play with.

Snakes and ladders - an oldie but a goodie! Counting forwards (and backwards!)

Fraction and 3D puzzles.  Geometric and spacial challenges.

Challenge friends to a basic facts race.
Tangrams.  You could make your own puzzle and create your own silhouettes.

Organising and sorting.  Being the quickest to find the magician who has nothing in common with the one on the top of the stack.

So many card games improve our maths.  Fish for number recognition, 'speed' for forward and backward number sequences, memory, solitaire (finding pairs that equal 10) for 'tidy tens'.

Murtle the turtle - adding five.

Garden Art

We went into the kitchen garden and sketched some leaves.

We mixed green with black or white to make 3 different greens.
