Schools Day Out
Room eight saw some alpacas at the 'Schools Day Out' event at Claudelands Event Centre. There was a cria which is a baby alpaca. The cria was only 4 days old.
Some lucky children got to lead some alpacas around an obstacle course. The alpacas didn't always want to go in the right direction.

Room 8 went to the museum to see the exhibition 'How to Make a Monster'.
We got to move the exhibits by pressing buttons and pulling levers. Some of the monsters made sounds, too.
There was a big monster in the North pole and a monster in the South Pole and they were talking to each other on the phone. These monsters were for an advertisement showing phones that could call from anywhere in the world.
A monster came out of the elevator!! It turned out to be Rebecca, Oliver, Avikash, Angel, Lachlan, Tayla-Jayde, Blake, Akari and Josh dressed up and making the monster move.
We also got to put on a play showing a legend about a tree that turned into an ugly taniwha who didn't have any friends. But at the end of the story another taniwha made friends with the ugly taniwha called Waiwaia.

Room 8's overnight guest!
One of the students in room 8 brought her pet rat to school. The rat's name is Smittens and she is only 2 months old. Lots of children wanted to see the rat up close but not everyone wanted to hold her. Luciana, Tayla-Jade, Isaiah, Makaela, Ms O'Neil and Miss Langdon all had a little cuddle. Smittens was as quiet as a mouse (or maybe as quiet as a rat) all day!!
